The Allegheny Sandwich Shoppe isn't really gone, but it has a new name, "The Sandwich Shoppe." The previous owner retired and handed the business on to the chef of the Allegheny Sandwich Shoppe, and if anything, the Yelp reviews are even better now. https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-sandwich-shoppe-pittsburgh-2

I can never seem to remember what time Allegheny Sandwich Shoppe closes and have had intentions to go for months. I finally set s reminder in my phone and made it there this week. I got the house specialty roast beef sandwich with sides of fries and coleslaw and then also got a cup of their clam chowder which is a Friday only special. The roast beef was slightly dry for my taste, but the au jus helped moisten it up and the flavors were great. I will say, the description listed horseradish as a condiment but I didn't notice any, which is saying something because horseradish isn't exactly mild. Haha! The fries had a nice flavor but were not super crispy, more of a limp fry if you're into that kind and were too salty. The cracked pepper on top was really nice though! The slaw was like any other I've tasted, but that doesn't mean it was bad! The clam chowder was quite good as well and a nice size for the price. The menu isn't terribly extensive, but there are still lots of breakfast/brunch and lunch options that I would still like to try. Hope to be back soon!

I'm not a huge breakfast person, but if I'm on the road I'm for sure going to find a local place to grab some food at. I ended up going to the Allegheny Sandwich Shop for breakfast on Saturday and it might be the best dedication I made all month. This small little diner establishment has easy to access street parking, a good amount of tables to sit at, and a fantastic menu with all sorts of different breakfast choices to choose from. I didn't dine in because I was on the go but I placed my order at the front counter and staff was super duper friendly when I was there (we even had a nice chat about our fluffy dogs). The food came out in no time and when I opened up the container I almost had a heart attack.....why? Well, because the meat scramble I ordered looked absolutely amazing, and guess what? It tasted just as good as it looked. The mixture of the meat, eggs, and veggies made something that Zeus himself would of enjoyed to eat. Overall, I absolutely loved the Allegheny Sandwich Shop and it kind of sucks that they aren't located in Buffalo. The staff was amazing and so was the food, I highly recommend giving this place a try, you won't be disappointed!
